OUT-OF-THE-BOX KEYNOTE: What does it take to a create a true learning culture in the investment industry? Preliminary findings

State Street’s Center for Applied Research (CAR) newest 18-month flagship study was set to answer the question: How can the investment management industry create effective change to achieve better outcomes for all of its stakeholders? Informed by a global survey of close to 4,000 market participants, over 100 face to face interviews with industry leaders and the insights from change and learning theories, CAR uncovers the reasons behind the industry’s most pervasive challenges and offers a new change framework for leaders to address these challenges and reclaim their organizations’ societal license to operate. Mirtha Kastrapeli, Global Head of CAR, will share some preliminary findings of this study and will focus her attention on the learning culture needed to create meaningful change in the investment industry.

KEYNOTE: Illiquid Alternative Investments

Portfolio allocations among asset managers to alternative investments is increasing rapidly and comes at the expense of the traditional asset classes. Mainly driven by search for greater returns in the current low yield environment, it is a trend spreading quickly across the Nordic asset managers. The effect on front-, middle-, and backoffice process is proving to be substantial and will have a material effect on how we work. It is the return to a time and an environment with much less standardization. This session will cover the current trends and the possible paths ahead in the alternative investment world.

Fredrik Söderlund, Head of Alternative Investment Services, SEB

KEYNOTE: Meeting the Non-Cleared Margin Rules

A seismic change is underway in global financial markets—requirements to post initial margin and variation margin on un-cleared OTC derivative trades are being implemented in many of the world’s major economies.
